Parts of a Sentence

The chief ii parts of a sentence are the subject and predicate, with the subject field identifying whom or what the judgement is near and the predicate giving more information about the bailiwick.

The elements within the predicate adding more than detail or meaning, are verbs, direct objects, indirect objects, and subject complements.

We'll now look at each of these in more than detail.

Parts of a Sentence: Subject and Predicate

Discipline

The subject of a judgement is the person, identify, or thing that the sentence is nigh.

If it comes before an action verb (e.chiliad. climb, eat, build, say etc) so it is the part of the judgement that shows whom or what is doing that action. If it comes before a state verb (e.g. is, see, smell) it tells usa whom or what is in that state of beingness.

Information technology is usually a noun or pronoun and can as well include modifying words, phrases or clauses. Hither are some examples of subjects in a judgement:

  • Cars....
  • The boy in the ruby coat... (includes modifying phrase)

Predicate

While the subject is what the sentence is about, the predicate is what is existence said nearly the subject.

Information technology will always include a verb but will usually also include other elements. Then these are what it will/may include:

  • Verb
  • Direct Object
  • Indirect Object
  • Discipline Complement

In the examples below, the predicate is in assuming.

  • The woman is hot.
